Description
The original of this is a tiny 6 x 4 inch oil painting.
This is probably my favourite piece yet. I adore the sea, coming from a long line of fishermen, and I have deep feelings when standing on the shore or a ship that I do not have anywhere else. The sound, the smell that pervades your clothing and hair, the soft spray touching your very soul. To be at one with the ocean is to be one with the very essence of life.
My purpose in this painting was to try and capture the lightness of my heart when out there. To allow you to feel the spray, to smell the salty water.... to feel the wind on your face without leaving your home......... To take you on a voyage through my imagination

So few strokes that say so very much. Just beautiful, Abby. I share your feelings about the ocean. I have lived by the sea my entire life and never tire of my visits there. Something very special about walking alone along a seclude sandy beach, hearing the rush of the waves. the chatter of the gulls overhead, and gazing out at the endless and timeless ocean view. Like a tonic for one's soul.

Abbie, this is such a wonderful diminutive with a beautiful, intimate backstory…it is such an apt metaphor to how you brave the seas with courage, kindness and selflessness. Gratitude for your soul spaces and for this beautiful painting which has special meaning for me tonight…LF

I just love your translation of the water in this one - so powerful. And the head-on view of that fishing boat resolutely plowing its way forward is inspiring. Such spirit!
